Looked up a walkthrough and the rooms have changed since the walkthrough. Specifically the top-right open space in the yellow room used to be a 5x3 rectangle. Now two wall blocks have been added, so it's no longer big enough to turn around in. I think this makes the next step after unlocking the green door impossible
Edit: the change to the yellow room does render the walkthrough's solution impossible, but I found a different way
OK, this is brilliant. It took me quite a while to get the hang of it, and I still haven't gotten farther than the blue room (the last screenshot is a bit of a hint BTW), but I'm going to see this through 😉
I have literally spent over and hour trying, and I cannot get anywhere :( please help those of us who cant get it!! i looked at the first few comments and you told them to keep trying and I've tried for a long time now. I just need a little push in the right direction. I have only gotten the green key out and then I got nothing. SOME OF US JUST AINT SMART ENOUGH! :(((
I kept coming back to the game for days and being stuck in the exact same spot as you, feeling as if I’d tried literally everything, but I just finally got it after spotting something on this page that made it click and I feel silly.
What to do after getting the green key, if you’re stuck:
(SPOILERS) Hint/nudge
You need to figure out how to push your red key into a door "from the left" to enter the room with the purple key, and retrieve it.
While entering “from the left” from within red is possible, no matter what you do, you can’t seem to retrieve the purple key that way.
You need to look for a different way to arrange things to find a door that you can push your red key into from the left, to enter that purple key room.
(SPOILERS) Much bigger hint (what did it for me)
Look at the screenshots for the game that were uploaded by the dev.
(SPOILERS) Direct explanation
Green key in top of yellow, then to the left from inside green, creating another green room overhanging the left side of yellow, creating a left-side door for you to put the red key in. This gets green key stuck, but frees purple.
SPOILERS
After rescuing the green key I was stuck for so long lol. I hadn't kept track of which door i had tried the orange key on so i tried to nest a bunch of stuff instead of just trying the right door lmao.
It's a very interesting take on the Sokoban genre, I liked the multiple realizations you have as you begin to discover the mechanics at play. The difficulty is a notable factor, I think this can come in part from the lack of indication of progress, which is in part helped by the checkpoints, but the comments made me worried that a checkpoint would put me in an impossible position, even though I eventually finished. There was a bit of jittering when opening rooms inside themselves, but nothing that really affected gameplay. I did like the development of multiple sub-objectives on the way to the main objective; to reach the treasure you need to unlock this door, which has a door that is unlocked by this key, which needs to be rescued from this room, and so on, which is a nesting of challenges thematically liked to the mechanics of this game, which is interesting. The graphics are neat and functional, simple always works for a jam title, and the keys had a nice bit of personality to their design, especially when you could have gotten away with making them delineated by color.
Overall, a really solid entry for a game jam, I'll look forward to future work from this team.
Got this far and I'm stuck again. I could get the orange and green keys out but I couldn't figure out what to do next. Would anyone be so kind to give a hint?
**HINT/SPOILERS**
After you get the orange and green keys out, try and think about how to get the yellow key in the red room! Maybe with the help of one of the keys you just 'rescued'... :D
Finished! That took me sooo long, many a head scratch moment. Will admit I did use screenshots from the comments to work what to do next in a few places, but it all started to click after unlocking the purple door. Great concept and great execution!
This is such a cool game! I’m already imagining some cursed mechanics like a room having two doors on the same edge, which would somehow overlap two rooms if you open from that side (not sure how would that work though)
great game so far. I'm loving the mechanics and the animations/SFX. im determined to beat this one!
Also, i'm not sure if this is intended or not but I was able to push the blue key outside of its room and its breaking my brain (as well as lagging the game a little)
Very fun game! I have been stuck here at this checkpoint for over a day though. I've put the purple, orange, and red keys into every single door they can reach and nothing new has opened up. So, the only suggestion I would have is maybe a hint list or a guide for when people get stuck.
HINTYou need to insert the purple key from below, push the red one forward, then, when possible, go around it and push it back. You should get this situation:
After that, first pull out the purple key, and then the red one.
I don't think I've ever been this intensely invested in a game before. This was an amazing experience (with lots of frustration involved too hahaha) and it was so satisfying to finish! There's something about the mechanics that make sense in the most topsy turvy way.
Puzzle design... Lucas, you are absolutely evil, and I mean that in the best possible way. This game is hurting my head, and I love it. Part of me wants to start over to review the mechanics as they come up again in case that's why I can't figure out what to do next. Part of me is terrified that I'll forget how I freed the orange key, and spend an hour figuring it out again
I’m also stuck here despite coming back to this daily and trying everything I can think of. Feel like I have to be fundamentally missing something but no idea what.
Spoilers(?)
My gut says the next step from both a puzzle design teach you the game perspective, and just the tools available to me, is *probably* to position a green room (possibly nested) in such a way that I can push the red key or purple key into one of its side doors, but I feel as if I've basically brute forced the possible approaches there and found nothing that works yet. (Clearly completely not brute forced since I'm still stuck, I know)
It's a fun game, but unfortunately, the game sometimes save you in those moments after which the game becomes impassable. Please add a button to cancel the last save.
I might sadly be too stupid to figure this game out. Otherwise i had fun, great puzzle game. Only hope for me is maybe a hint button in future updates.

this is what I've always wanted.
The door creak is extremely grating.
The rooms in my game are slightly different to those in the screenshots. Has the game been changed since the screenshots were taken?

Wooow keyception =)
brilliant
I cant beat first level

incredible
Finally made it! good game

Also I feel like one could potentially add some kind of infinite recursion with to these mechanics!
This is honestly amazing!

This gets green key stuck, but frees purple.the room spawned on my green key so I think I'm soft locked, (the checkpoint resets you to when you open the gold door)
You're right, apologies about this! This is on my todo list to fix, but it's a bit more awkward to prevent than some of the others.
This must have been fun to puzzle design for whew
Solved in ~38 minutes:D

OMG that was so funny, beautiful and frustrating in a good way jajaja, great level design, amazing game!!!
I opened the blue door before freeing the orange key... have I softlocked myself? The checkpoint goes to where I opened the blue door.
Unfortunately yes, sorry!
Incorrect checkpoint?

Yes I think so. Thanks!
Great :D
After finishing the game, pressing R gets you here. In a way it makes sense but I thought it should restart the game.

Ah yeah, this looks like a bad checkpoint. Sorry!
Thanks, no problem !
I'm too dumb to finish it tho! ahahah I can't find a way to get the orange key back and got stuck here >.<
You're pretty close to the end here! You don't need to rescue the orange key.
Yeah after some tries I finally noticed there were no orange doors and managed to reach the end ahahah
It was a very fun game!

This would be the best place to play hide and seek

That doesn't look intended! If you can provide a screenshot or video of how you did it that'd be appreciated.

The game is really awesome, will we be able to see it on Steam in the future?
We did actually start development on a new game today! But not this one ;)
A bug is: if a key on a locked door, you can push the key through the door and let the player and the key pass through the locked door.

You are on the right route.

Now you need to pull out the red key. To do this, you will need purpleNo

Ok thank you! I tried ( a lot ) with the new red ...

Thank you for making such a cool game!
i need to spend some time with this one. it's a cool idea.
I FINALLY FINISHED IT

Seriously, top notch work everyone!
Crazy fun idea, lags badly for me tho(still playable but it sometimes double inputs)
Looks like you're making good progress!
Got here but don't know what to do next, tried to get purple key but i can't get it from red, have i done smg wrong already?
You're right about the next step!
I’m also stuck here despite coming back to this daily and trying everything I can think of. Feel like I have to be fundamentally missing something but no idea what.

Sorry! Please share a screenshot of any bad checkpoint state, we're updating the game to try to patch all of these out.
I had the same situation as here:https://itch.io/post/16457844
I just decided to suggest adding an undo save button, as there can be a lot of situations where an unsolvable level persists.
I might sadly be too stupid to figure this game out. Otherwise i had fun, great puzzle game. Only hope for me is maybe a hint button in future updates.
